After primary election loss, Buhari’s nephew threatens to destroy APC

The member representing the federal constituency of Sandamu/Daura/Maiadua in Katsina, Fatuhu Muhammad, has threatened to destroy the ruling Congress of all progressives (APC) in the state and later joining the New Nigeria Peoples Party NNPP as a protest against the “injustice” inflicted on him during his party’s just concluded primary elections. Muhammad, nephew of President Muhammadu Buhari, was defeated by Aminu Jamo. Jamo got 117 while Muhammadu got 30 votes. In a phone conversation that has now gone viral, Muhammad threatened to reclaim his “stolen” ticket or leave the party. In the six-minute, twenty-two-second audio reviewed by PREMIUM TIMES, the lawmaker was heard telling someone he referred to as Ranka ya dade (meaning: sir) that he would destroy APCs in Katsina state. He said he would not run in a new election if the party decides to do so, since he is the rightful winner of the primary elections held last week. “They can’t hold any (primary) election because I won this one while they broke the law. They should just give me my ticket back, or we meet in court or I destroy the party and bring a new (party),” he said. “I can even go and bring the fruit party (NNPP) and they will only see the Kwankwaso party in Daura. Yes, I can do it because everyone is fighting for himself. They should come and tell the poor what they have done for them. I will also say what I have done for the poor and we will see who the (poor) will go for,” he said. Why then should I allow someone to frustrate me in my ancestral home? If it is a monarchical system, who would take over from the president if not me because I am on the father’s side. Some of them who are not even related to him (President Buhari) in the real sense cannot come and claim that they are the real Buhari people here just because we avoid addressing them as who they are,” he said. . While assuring the other speaker on the other end that he (Mr. Muhammad) would not be violent in claiming his ticket, he said that he is not anyone’s “political boy” and therefore cannot be coerced into giving up his ticket. However, he did not explain how his ticket was stolen by those he described as his “enemies” in the phone conversation.
