Ayu warns PPD members not to attack themselves

National Chairman of the Peoples’ Democratic Party (PDP), Iyorchia Ayu, has warned party members not to attack each other but to unite before the 2023 general election. Mr. Ayu had this to say in his remarks at the party’s National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting in Abuja on Wednesday. The national president’s warning comes amid a war of words between Governor Nyesom Wike and his Edo state counterpart Godwin Obaseki. Ayu called on PDP leaders and members to bury their differences and work together for the party’s success in the 2023 general election. He advised members not to lose focus on where the party was coming from. “I call on all members of this party to forget their differences. If there are differences, we must resolve them internally. “No party member should attack another party member. If there is any problem, we have different party organs to solve different problems. “We will work tirelessly. We are talking to individual members who have differences between them, whether at the neighborhood, local government, state or national level, because that distraction must not be allowed to continue. “Where there are problems, the national working committee and other leaders of the national party bodies will come together to resolve the differences. “Nigerians should know that PDP is back, we will work as a team and you will see the results very soon. “Nigeria must not lose hope. Hope is on the way and rescue is on the way. Only this match can rescue Nigeria,” Ayu said. The president also urged party members and leaders to work with the National Work Committee (NWC) for the victory of the PDP in the upcoming gubernatorial elections in Ekiti and Osun. Ayu said that the elections could be won if party members put aside their differences and worked as a team. “These elections are important for several reasons. First of all, they will restore confidence to our members. “Second, it will signal to Nigerians that the PDP is determined to take power in 2023. “It is important that we unify the party. If we unify the party, we will win the state chapter elections. If we collectively win the state chapter elections, we will be able to pool those votes and definitely win the presidential election,” he said. Chairman of the DPP Governors Forum, Sokoto State Governor Aminu Tambuwal, said that for the party to win the 2023 general election, it must not lose focus and its members must be united. Tambuwal pledged the governors’ support for party leaders, especially to ensure the success of the PDP in the 2023 general election.
