FG urges Nigerians in Ukraine to remain calm: The Nigerians in Diaspora Commission (NiDCOM), yesterday, called on Nigerian citizens living in Ukraine to remain calm, amid growing fears that Russia may invade Ukraine. NiDCOM Media, Public Relations and Protocol Officer, Mr. Gabriel Odu, made it known in a statement. The statement said that NiDCOM President and CEO, Ms. Abike Dabiri-Erewa, had earlier urged Nigerians in Ukraine to be calm and security-conscious in view of the tense relations between Ukraine and Russia. It reads in part: “Dabiri-Erewa has assured that the Nigerian Embassy in Kiev, Ukraine, is doing everything possible to ensure the safety of all Nigerians in that country. “The head of NiDCOM also urged Nigerian citizens in Ukraine to visit the embassy website and duly follow the registration processes. “A statement from the Nigerian Embassy in Kiev has provided additional information and necessary measures regarding emergencies and concerns.” Meanwhile, US President Joe Biden has announced a surge in US troops in Europe to strengthen the eastern flank of the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO), in response to a Russian troop buildup near the border with Ukraine. A total of 1,700 soldiers will be redeployed from the US to Poland, while another 300 soldiers will be sent to Germany. In turn, some 1,000 US troops currently stationed in Germany will be redeployed to Romania, which shares a border with Ukraine. Read More Related News Here
