Gunmen invade school and kill teacher in Nasarawa

Gunmen suspected of being armed robbers shot dead a teacher at the Nassarawa-Eggon Government Science High School, Nasarawa StateAuta Nasela. A school staff member who did not want to be identified told the Nigerian News Agency (NAN) on Sunday that the attack happened around 8:00 pm on Saturday. He said the armed men entered the school premises and went directly to the residence of the deceased, demanding money. The source added that the deceased ran to his neighbor’s apartment, but was chased and shot by one of the gunmen. He said another school staff member, Timothy Malle, was also shot but survived the attack, adding that he was rushed to hospital for medical attention. Confirming the incident, Ramhan Nansel, Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) in the state, said that the incident was a case of armed robbery. “Yesterday, around 8:45 pm, a distress call was received from GSS Nassarawa-Eggon that thugs invaded the residence of one Auta Nasela. “When they managed to get in, they started demanding money but the man ran away to his neighbor’s house, but one of the thugs followed him and shot him. PPRO said police have since launched an investigation into the matter with a view to arresting and bringing the perpetrators to justice.
