I will appoint Minister of Infrastructure of the Stomach if I am elected president – Fayose

Former Governor of Ekiti State, Ayodele Fayosesays he will appoint a “Infrastructure Minister of the Stomach” if he emerges as president of Nigeria. Mr. Fayose said this while speaking to reporters shortly after his appearance before the Peoples’ Democratic Party (PDP) Presidential Selection Committee in Abuja on Friday. The panel evaluated 17 applicants in Abuja. The former governor said that when asked by the committee about his stomach infrastructure policy while governor of Ekiti state, he made it very clear that it would be part of his policies if he emerged president. “I made it clear that I will have a minister for stomach infrastructure and people’s welfare,” he said. However, he added that as much as paving roads and providing other infrastructure was good, that would not be enough for hungry citizens. “So for me, stomach infrastructure is part of supporting the common Nigerian. The infrastructure of the stomach under my watch as president of Nigeria will be a major issue. “No one is saying here that what is necessary will not be done in terms of the country’s development, part of the development is the well-being and well-being of the people.” Stating his position on zoning, Mr. Fayose insisted that for the sake of posterity, the PDP must zone its presidential ballot so as not to confuse the future. He recalled that in 1999, the presidential ticket was zoned to the south when former President Olusegun Obasanjo and Olu Falae were in the race, but Abubakar Rimi was still contested within the ambit of the Constitution. “But the party must remember that whatever we do today, tomorrow it will speak for us or oppose us. “The system is not working in our country; the institutions are not working, that’s why we have all these problems. “We must be brave enough to say that this is going south, and if you want to participate, the Nigerian constitution still gives you the influence, the opportunity to do so. I support zoning this time to southern Nigeria.” Fayose said that with the current president from the north, it was only logical for the south to produce the next president, saying it was not about the party, but about the best interest and stability of Nigeria.
