President Muhammadu Buhari has ordered security agencies to immediately rescue all people kidnapped by armed people in Nigeria. Buhari said this while addressing security chiefs at a meeting in Abuja on Thursday. The president’s position was revealed by National Security Advisor Babagana Monguno, who briefed correspondents from the House of Representatives at the end of the meeting. “The President spoke about his sadness regarding the recent security challenges and developments we have had in the country, in particular the incident in which several Nigerians lost their lives and many more were taken into captivity by criminals and bandits,” Mr. Monguno said. “Not only those who were captured during the latest Kaduna-bound train incident, but also those who have been held captive in other parts of the country. “The President has directed all operational and intelligence elements to rescue all of these innocent people immediately and without harm. This is the basis on which other topics were discussed. President Muhammadu Buhari meeting with security chiefs “The Chief of the Defense Staff, the Service Chiefs and the Police Inspector General reported to the President on the events in their respective organizations,” said the retired Major General. PREMIUM TIMES reported that some 3,000 people were killed and almost 1,500 kidnapped in Nigeria in the first three months of 2022. On Thursday, Monguno said he made some recommendations on how to address the security challenges facing Nigeria. He said the president is reviewing the recommendations. “I submitted a memorandum to the Council and the president is reviewing my recommendations. My recommendations are broad and touch on all aspects of security, beginning with the level of security at our land borders, as well as within the country itself,” he said. Monguno said that decisive steps are being taken to secure all of the country’s land borders, in order to deal with threats coming from outside those borders. He said the threats have now shifted from the northeastern part of the country to the northwestern and central north, but even that needs to be contained. “It has to be contained collectively by both the armed forces and the police forces, but the intelligence agencies have also been instructed to improve intelligence acquisition,” he added. He pointed out that the current situation in the country requires a collective effort from everyone, not just those who have the responsibility of physically securing the country. “Unless society at large, even local governments, are willing to provide the kind of information needed to block the activities of these criminals, this situation will continue beyond the time period we are considering to end this problem. ” Read More Related News Here Let here it in the comment below if you do have an opinion on this; Immediately release all hostages
