Kuje Jailbreak: NDLEA arrests Boko Haram suspect with drugs

the National Drug Control Agency (NDLEA) arrested one of the wanted terrorism suspects, who escaped from the Medium Security Correctional Center, Kuje, on July 5. The Nigerian News Agency (NAN) reports that dozens of terrorists launched a daring attack on the facility on July 5 and bombed its entrance. They released 879 inmates, including some 64 who had terrorism-related charges against them. In a statement released in Abuja on Monday, NDLEA Media and Advocacy Director Femi Babafemi said the fleeing terrorist suspect, Suleiman Sidi, was arrested in the early hours of Monday. Babafemi said Sidi was arrested in the parking lot of Area 1, in the Federal Capital Territory, when he was trying to board a commercial vehicle to Maiduguri, Borno state. “When they searched him, they found three packages of cannabis sativa on him. ALSO READ: Abuja prison attack: Nigerian government releases details of escaped Boko Haram terrorists “During the preliminary interview, the wanted terrorism suspect confirmed that he was in custody at the Kuje Correctional Center on terrorism and robbery charges. “He added that he was in fact one of the inmates who escaped from the facility last Tuesday,” the NDLEA spokesman said. Meanwhile, Buba Marwa, the president of NDLEA, as officers and men of the Agency’s FCT Command, praised for the arrest. Mr. Babafemi quoted Mr. Marwa as saying that the arrested fugitive should be immediately handed over to the Nigerian Correctional Service (NCoS).
