Lagos Assembly holds special plenary for Tinubu ahead of 70th birthday

On Monday, the Lagos State House of Assembly praised Bola Tinubu, a former state governor who turns 70 on Tuesday. The House, in a Special Plenary, described the presidential candidate as the benefactor of all of them and others in the state, Nigeria and around the world. In his remark, House Speaker Mudashiru Obasa said that it was better to celebrate those who contributed greatly to the betterment of society like Mr. Tinubu. “Tinubu is our benefactor and mentor, for our colleagues, this is the man who has made the difference. “We want to recognize your contributions to the development of our democracy, especially in Lagos. Today we have reason to celebrate,” he said. Speaking, Setonji David, chairman of the House Information, Strategy and Security Committee, described Mr. Tinubu as bold, strategic, focused, open-minded and a talent scout. “If Asiwaju becomes president, Nigeria will be better off,” David said. Furthermore, Gbolahan Yishauu described Mr. Tinubu as an extraordinary and exemplary leader, who had sacrificed himself as a seed for others to grow. Contributing, Jude Idimogu (Oshodi-Isolo II) described Mr. Tinubu as a detribalized Nigerian, who had helped and accommodated many non-indigenous people at both the state and federal levels. In his opinion, Rotimi Makinde (Ifako/Ijaiye II) thanked the speaker for hosting the special parliamentary assembly in honor of the former governor. Mr. Makinde noted that he was one of Mr. Tinubu’s living beneficiaries during his first term as governor of the state. “Asiwaju Bola Tinubu is our mentor and we will continue to pray for him for a long life and prosperity,” he said. Rotimi Abiru (Shomolu II) celebrated Mr. Tinubu for laying the foundation for modern Lagos by creating the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA), Lakes Waste Management Authority (LAWMA) and Public Defender. In his contribution, Rotimi Olowo (Shomolu I) said that he was a Democrat who left a very comfortable job to fight for the nation and change the course of the state. Temitope Adewale (Ifako-Ijaiye I), said that he was a proud product of Mr. Tinubu because he employed him as his special adviser.
