Lookman shifts his focus to the Everton clash after scoring in the Newcastle defeat

Ademola Lookman is already looking forward to the midweek clash against Everton following Leicester City’s painful loss to Newcastle United in Sunday’s Premier League tie. Lookman scored at St James Park on Sunday but it proved inconsequential as the Foxes were beaten 2-1 by Newcastle United with the winner coming through Bruno Guimaraes in the 94th minute. Sunday’s goal was the sixth for Lookman, who has now scored for the third consecutive time in the league for Brendan Rodgers’ side. Before his 19th-minute goal against the Magpies, Lookman had also found the net against Wolverhampton Wanderers and Crystal Palace. Having seen that the result did not go well, Lookman cautioned that there was no need to grieve over the result, instead wanting the focus to shift to the midweek clash against Everton. On his Twitter account he wrote: There is no time to stop, on Wednesday we recover 💪🏽⚽️ There is no time to stop, on Wednesday we recover 💪🏽⚽️ @LCFC pic.twitter.com/6BDfwo2mTj — Ademola Lookman (@Alookman_) April 17, 2022 For the Newcastle game, Lookman was replaced by Harvey Barnes in the 66th minute. His international teammate Kelechi Iheanacho was introduced twelve minutes later in place of Patson Daka. Iheanacho had a couple of decent chances that could have at least given Leicester City a share of the spoils, but having missed the mark, he will be hoping for another chance against the Toffees on Wednesday. For their part, Sunday’s victory saw Newcastle all but confirm their stay in the Premier League for another season: 12 points for 18th-placed Burnley, virtually guaranteeing survival before six games remaining.
