NDLEA arrested a Brazilian returnee with pellets of cocaine hidden in his private parts. He said the suspect was caught on June 20 arriving on an Ethiopian airline flight from Sao Paulo, Brazil via Addis Ababa. It added that the suspect had swallowed 50 packets of cocaine before leaving Brazil and excreted 48 pellets in Addis Ababa, where he gave them to another person. According to Babafemi, the suspect was unable to excrete the two remaining wrappers in the hotel room in Addis Ababa before boarding his flight. “He later excreted them in the toilet of the plane during the flight from Ethiopia to Lagos,” Babafemi said. Meanwhile, two drug lords behind the smuggling of two drug shipments from Canada hidden in vehicle containers through the Tin Can port in Apapa, Lagos, have been arrested by NDLEA operatives. Babafemi stated that one of them was arrested at his home in the Idi Araba area of ​​Lagos on June 22. The suspect was arrested for importing a 40-foot container carrying 33 “Colorado” packages weighing 16.5 kg. Babafemi added that the second suspect, popularly known as Otunba, was arrested on Thursday for his role in smuggling 290 “Colorado” packages weighing 145kg from Montreal, Canada. The drugs were hidden in four vehicles shipped to Nigeria in a 40-foot container. “He had been on the run since March, and in the course of the investigation, he attempted to bribe NDLEA officers with N10 million to influence the case,” Babafemi stated.
