One expat killed, two missing in Ajaokuta attack – Police

The Kogi Police Command says two Indian expats are missing following Friday night’s attack on a convoy of senior management staff from West Africa Ceramics Company Ajaokuta, Kogi. Kogi Police Commissioner Edward Egbuka made the revelation on Saturday in a statement issued by the Command’s image maker, William Ovye-Aya, in Lokoja. “We just found out that two West Africa Ceramics Company Ajaokuta expatriates were kidnapped by thugs who launched an attack on their convoy along the Lokoja-Ajaokuta highway. “Our findings also showed that only one expatriate was killed along with the two police inspectors and two drivers from the pottery company. “While we strongly condemn the cowardly act of the attackers, we are determined to track them down (the thugs) and rescue the expats unharmed. “Police also want to refute the suggestion that the thugs took some AK-47s belonging to our officers during the attack,” he said. Mr. Egbuka called on the public to report any suspicious characters or movements to the security agencies for necessary action. He said the bodies of the five victims had been deposited in the ASCOL Medical Center morgue at Ajaokuta Steel Complex.
