UTME 2022: JAMB changes mock exams to April 9

The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) says the 2022 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) mock exam will now take place on April 9, and not April 16 as previously scheduled. The board made this known in its Registrar’s Office Weekly Bulletin on Monday in Abuja. JAMB said the change was due to the realization that the previously scheduled April 16 was an Easter Saturday; a Holy Saturday, celebrated by Christians to mark the end of the Lenten period before Easter Sunday. The board also noted that the date of the exercise was also affected by the change of date for the registration of the UTME and Direct Entry (DE), which was previously scheduled for February 12, but then began on February 19. However, he urged all candidates who have registered and would like to sit for the mock exercise to note the date change and be prepared. The Nigerian News Agency (NAN) reports that the 2022 registration began on Saturday, February 19, and is expected to end on March 26. However, JAMB has scheduled UTME to take place from May 6-16. In a similar development, JAMB said it had made significant progress in the continued registration of candidates for the 2022 exercise. According to the board, it successfully registered more than 236,000 candidates on February 26, eight days after registration began on February 19. The board, comparing the statistics to its 2021 financial year, said it registered just 102,221 candidates in the same eight-day period in 2021 financial year. JAMB attributed the improvement to its partnership with the National Identity Management Commission (NIMC), adding that the ongoing process had delivered the desired results.
